virtual villagers. basically it’s survival for a group of people on an island. you get to plan what they do in order to survive. food, housing, increase population, science.. etc. and there are 16 puzzles altogether to solve before you are done with it. then, you can move on the virtual villagers 2 and 3. hehe!

so what do i do? i send all the men to work.. *crack my whip*

and the women are to fully utilised their productive systems. (my feminists friends are all gonna kill me!) 

lol! but what to do? the game’s built that way. the men cant have babies. in order to increase population, the women will just have to be the lot to do the job. there you can see them sitting around in a group. (really! they all sit together and do not wander far from each other during the 2 years game time that they are caring for babies.) and they do look so cute carrying babies like that. haha!

and the kids are the cutest little things. they can only start working (or reproducing) when they reach 14. so before that, they’ll just be running all around the island, exploring and geting excited at evertything.

can you spot my little kids playing happily in the magical flower patch? they grow bigger as they get older. so tiny and cute now, arent they?

i am just asking, when was the last time you cried watching a movie?

mine was a few days ago. the movie in case was p.s. i love you. i know, i know.. i have read the many bad reviews on this. many along the lines of ’been there, done that – give us something new’. 

but this post is not a review. im just saying, it made me cried. i suppose the reason is, it is so real and i somehow connected with it. is all.. and not a lot of films can make me do that. not a review here and no spoiler. you wanna know what moves me, go watch it. but i can tell you which is my favourite scene. the scene where he first met her, she was standing in all her colours against the green of field and blue of sky.. it is gloriously beautiful.  

p.s. i love you. thanks for a movie that can make me cry.

p.p.s. the last movie that made me cried is a moment to remember. it’s korean. another beautiful movie. my favourite scene? watch out for the splashing in the rain.

that’s the tarot card i got for today in facebook. and so happens, today’s the empress’ birthday. how apt eh?

whois the empress? she’s the mummy la.. the one and only, the amazing woman in the world that protected me for 9 months and gave birth to me. the woman whose guts i hate. the woman who despite that i still admire greatly. i admire her mostly for never giving up on me, on all my various whims and weird ways. she dont agree with most of them, but in her quiet decisive nature, she plays along. and when i fall, she picks me up without a word. and she let me start all over, again and again.

oh, we fought. damn a lot of times. she couldnt understand my stupid nature of liking to run into walls. she couldnt understand why i let my life be ruled by my heart when she has hers deeply grounded. but still, she pretty much let me be.

for that, im eternally grateful. we may not be a match made in heaven nor do we have that conventional mother-daughter relationship. but you know what, i think it works. somehow it does. any other way will be too claustrophobic for me i suppose.

so, empress.. happy birthday! defnitely wiser, never older. and forever, with love.

no joke when i said i am living out of my suitcase.  i mean why bother packing and unpacking *repeat as many times as necessary, when i know i have to do the same thing all over again in just days.

the happiest part of all these to-ing and fro-ing is that i have sorta have time to re-establish friendships with some people that i havent seen for the longest time let alone keep in touch with because of our busy schedules. rekindling those special friendships is priceless.. so thanks everyone who matters a lot a lot to me. some have been through shit with me and we pulled through. one mentionable is sam. she has all the reasons in the world to hate me but we are still fast friends. she even took leaves just to spend time and have meals with me. another is karen. this is one that i have every reason not to talk to ever again. but i put the past behind me and we moved on.

but everytime i travel, the saddest part of it all is, i have no one to come home to. my last trip back, my bus reached toll, i was holding to my phone, unsure of what to do. at that exact point, i was momentarily sadden by the fact that there’s no one waiting for me at home. nor is there someone who’s anticipating my safe return. sigh..

like what i told nancy, my only joy now is bosco.

i know i havent been blogging lately. not even bosco’s blog. have i been lazy? i dont know. being online is another torture altogether. i know. i cant fully explain that, not even to myself.. but hell yeah! so, i’ve been kinda like away. hibernating..

what am i saying? or what im trying to say? i dont know.. i dont know anything anymore. does it hurt? yes it does. i should be handling it better right? i mean, afterall, it’s not the first. but i sure was hoping that this will be the last and that i wont have to go through this shit again. alas.. fate is cruel.

what i ended up with? just another person out there who is willing to take care of me financially. havent i been through this before? what is material possession but simply that? i dont need all that.

and it’s a bad, bad time for a lot of people who are close to my heart. my wish for myself and the rest of the world: find inner peace.

back to my anime.. distraction is necessary.

err.. nope. not for me though. dieting is an expensive hobby. just imagine, the process of getting towards the perfect weight probably includes:
a) medication to control your appetite
b) exercise routine which spells money in terms of gym membership, the many specific attire you’ll be needing to get, mp3 player to keep you going.. etc.
c) spending lots of money on healthy food. the unhealthy ones are much cheaper, really.

but that is not my biggest fear. my biggest fear is, let’s say im at my ideal weight and size. that’ll means that, whatever that i put on will look nice on me. just imagine the damage it’ll do to my wallet.

this will do as a filler. haha! friends have been complaining that i havent been blogging much here. the reason is not because i dont have things to bitch about. it’s just that, some irritating issues left unsaid, will slowly sail away on good days.

oh yeah, that thing on the previous post is a dried persimmon. (macam itu ke dieja?) entahlah..

and note: my photoshop skill is almost non-existent. was just playing with it for awhile. so, janganlah stress.. cos im trying not to.

been to my first ‘real’ play today to start off the year. another play scheduled coming tuesday. off to a slow start this year for plays. missed jewel of tibet because it really is quite pricey. the cheapest ticket at rm53 (?) is the only one i can afford (or bear to part with) are the seats right on top. the way istana budaya is built.. ah well, not worth the money. plus, i wanna go genting for mayday concert in april (a plan, havent hatched properly) so, i rather pay for that.

gigs aplenty. been going to a few of zalina lee’s, the 3 bitches’, and shanon shah’s.. not a bad start. looking forward to more. gave sunburst a miss (glad too cos it rained quite heavily) and missing mosaic music festival this year. enjoyed myself tremendously at rachael yamagata’s show last year.. and had a little ‘reconnecting’ session on my own for a few nights already. i love her music.

anyways, boring post. let’s make it interesting. we have a little guessing game fun. though, not la like many people actually read this blog. so, probably no reply. i shiok sendiri again. as usual.. haha!

HERE’S THE FACTS WHY WE MUST TRY NOT TO CONTINUE TO GIVE BN 2/3 OF PARLIAMENT

Its all about TRYING to CREATE a more BALANCED Parliament.
Its also about TRYING to make changes to the Constitution more difficult.
Its also about PROTECTING our RIGHTS as citizens.
It’s also about TRYING to make Malaysia a more TRULY DEMOCRATIC country.
REMEMBER – YOU’RE THE BOSS!

1. Barisan lost 2/3 majority once, in 1969. Only briefly.
2. Since 1957, it has amended the constitution 690 times to propagate its power. By comparison, USA which is more than 200 years old has only amended its constitution 27 times; Singapore as little as only 4 times.
3. Barisan’s ability to amend the constitution as it likes (and make unjust and unfair constitutional changes) must be stopped now.

Here’s the statistics from the 2004 election:

1. UMNO received 35.9% of the popular votes but has 110 parliamentary seats or 50% of all parliamentary seats.
2. In total, Barisan received 63.8% of the popular votes but has 199 parliamentary seats or 91% of all parliamentary seats.
3. The opposition received 36.2% of the popular votes but has only 20 parliamentary seats or 9% of all parliamentary seats.
4. Why? Because of gerrymandering, or unfair election rules. The election rules are stacked against the opposition. No matter what happens, the opposition will never, I repeat, will never be able to win the next election.

Here’s the decision-making power process within our present cabinet.

1. UMNO not only controls the parliament via Barisan, it has allocated itself 24 cabinet positions or 73% of all cabinet positions.
2. MCA has 4 cabinet positions or 12% of the cabinet positions.
3. MIC has 1 cabinet position or 3 % of the cabinet positions.
4. Gerakan has 1 cabinet position or 3% of the cabinet positions.
5. Other component parties hold 3 cabinet positions or 9% of the cabinet positions.
6. The opposition with 36.2% of all the popular votes is not given a single cabinet position.

Please note that although UMNO controls 50% of all parliamentary seats, it controls 73% of all the decision making processes within the cabinet.

4. Many marginalization issues or unfair election practices are the result of legislations passed by Barisan (lead by UMNO) unchecked in a dominant Barisan parliament. Under the Barisan Party whip system, the majority component party within Barisan will dictate the rules of the game. Other Barisan component parties like MCA, Gerakan or MIC cannot vote against what UMNO decides in whatever it likes, even if they wanted to.

5. Best part is this: even if the opposition won all the seats it contested, no single opposition party can form the next government. Why? Gerrymandering (of the present election borders) has ensured that even if Barisan were to win 50% of the popular votes in the upcoming election, it will still control 2/3 of parliament. As an example, in 2004 Barisan took 64% of the popular votes but ended up controlling 91% of parliament. It is not easy to see why if they win only 50% of the popular votes in the next election they will once again be able to dictate absolute power in the parliament.

so, (from above) 1. Barisan lost 2/3 majority once, in 1969. Only briefly. it took 39 years to come to that again. now, how long will that stay before it’s taken away again? i choose not to think about it at this point of time.

majority of my friends are probably out there slapping each others’ back for the hard work and encouragement they had given each other during the tiring election/campaign process. for now, i choose to channel all emotions into good feel of the future.

to the opposition, just one thing: dont fuck up!

however, that doesnt translate into: do less, less wrong. dont do, no wrong.
